A. Application Requirements for Master of Science Programs

1. Graduation Application Requirement

Applicants are required to either have a Bachelor’s degree or be about to graduate at the end of the term in which they apply.  Following acceptance to the program, Turkish citizens studying abroad and international students must submit a recognition letter from the Turkish Council of Higher Education (https://denklik.yok.gov.tr/) confirming the quality of their university to the IzTech Student Affairs Office for final registration.

2. ALES Requirement

Applicants must earn a minimum score of 60 on the ALES quantitative exam or 151 on the GRE quantitative exam. ALES and GRE scores are valid for 5 years.

ALES score is not required for admission to the Master of Science in Engineering Management Program if the applicants have at least 1250 days of working experience documented by the relevant government body (in Turkey, SGK).

ALES scores are not required for admission to the Master of Science in Architectural Restoration (non-thesis) or the Master of Science in Mathematics (non-thesis).

3. Language Requirement

The medium of instruction is 100% English. However, proof of English proficiency is not required for application to master’s degree programs. Upon acceptance, students must fulfill at least one of the foreign language requirement conditions or pass the IzTech English Proficiency Exam in order to begin their graduate programs.

Candidates who do not fulfill at least one of the exemption conditions and cannot pass the English Proficiency Exam of the IzTech School of Foreign Languages are enrolled in the IzTech English Preparatory School and are subject to the IzTech School of Foreign Languages English Preparatory School Regulations. Students who fulfill the requirements of these regulations are eligible to enroll in the master’s degree program.

However, applicants who apply to the non-thesis Master’s in Engineering Management must fulfill at least one of the foreign language exemption conditions or pass the IzTech School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Exam. Those who do not will not be enrolled in the English Preparatory School.

4. Science Preparatory Program

Students whose bachelor’s degree is in a field other than that of the master’s program to which they were accepted, or students whose bachelor’s degree was earned at a university other than IzTech, may be required to participate in a science preparatory program to strengthen scientific knowledge. The duration of the science preparatory program is at most two semesters.

B. Application Requirements for Ph.D. Programs with a Bachelor’s Degree

1. Degree Requirement

Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (equal to 80 out of 100).  Following acceptance to the program, Turkish citizens studying abroad and international students must submit a recognition letter from the Turkish Council of Higher Education (https://denklik.yok.gov.tr/) confirming the quality of their university to the IzTech Student Affairs Office for final registration.

2. ALES Requirement

Applicants must earn a minimum score of 80 on the ALES quantitative exam or 156 on the GRE quantitative exam. ALES and GRE scores are valid for 5 years.

3. Language Requirement

In order to apply, applicants must have a minimum score of 55 from a Turkish English proficiency exam such as YDS, YDS-e, or YÖKDİL (taken within the past five years) or a minimum score of 66 from the TOEFL iBT Test (taken within the past two years).

The medium of instruction in our institution is 100% English. The above mentioned foreign language test scores are the minimum scores required for application. Admitted applicants must fulfill at least one of the foreign language exemption requirements or pass the English Proficiency Exam of the IzTech School of Foreign Languages in order to start their programs.

Candidates who do not fulfill at least one of the exemption conditions and cannot pass the English Proficiency Exam of the IzTech School of Foreign Languages are enrolled in the IzTech English Preparatory School and are subject to the IzTech School of Foreign Languages English Preparatory School Regulations.
